Pope Francis Goes to Juvenile Detention to Wash Feet of Prisoners
Pope Francis washed feet in juvenile detention

The Pope visited juvenile detention northwest of Rome after a Mass in St. Peter's Basilica.
There he washed the feet of ten boys and two girls from different nationality and religion.
The traditional ceremony is usually held in St. Peter's Basilica, but according to Pope Francis is necessary to direct our gaze outward.
- It is not in the spirit investigation and persistent gaze inwardly we meet the Lord. We have to get out to the places where there is suffering, bloodshed, blind longing for vision, and prisoners who are subject to many wicked men, he said at Mass in St. Peter's Basilica.
Since he became Pope earlier in March, Francis placed great emphasis on the voice of the poor and the disadvantaged business.
In the Gospel of John says that Jesus washed the twelve disciples' feet during the Last Supper to show the Lord is not greater than his servant.
