U.S. will intensify sanctions against North Korea

 said U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice under emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Tuesday.

- North Korea can expect increased isolation and pressure, Rice said during the meeting.

The meeting of the Security Council was convened after North Korea tested a nuclear bomb Tuesday morning .



FACTS ABOUT NORTH KOREA'S NUCLEAR TESTING

North Korea withdrew from the Non-Proliferation Treaty of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in 2003.
9. October 2006: North Korea conducted its first nuclear test. Estimated strength was 0.8 kilotons. Nuclear test was met with international condemnation. The UN Security Council responded by introducing sanctions against North Korea five days later.
25. May 2009: North Korea exploded a nuclear new nuclear charge, with an estimated strength of around 2.4 kilotons.
12. February 2013: North Korea conducted its third nuclear test. Bomber explosive force estimated at between 6 and 7 kilotons.
