This country is about to disappear

 world's easternmost country prepares population of over 100,000 people in a slow flight. Their country, Kiribati, namely going to sink.

The only thing that can save the place  from drowning, is that sea level rise will stop. Nothing indicates that it will happen.

- Previously, we were advised to move backward, away from the shoreline. But as President Anote Tong says: There is nowhere to move backwards. What you end up either in a lagoon or ocean.

writes Linda Uan in the traditional, Australian newspaper The Age . She was born and raised in Kiribati, and thus have firsthand knowledge of the country's enormous challenges. In his comment, she has very little optimism around the beautiful islands of the Pacific's future.

I think everyone must flee

Global warming blamed as a consequence of the modern world pollution is blamed.

- I am a woman of Kiribati, and  no desire to live elsewhere. This is my home, and this is where my ancestors are, but maybe I have no choice, she writes.

 She believes this adjustment primarily means one thing: people have to flee the country.

In 2008, Kiribati asked Australia and New Zealand for permission to send its citizens away as permanent refugees, but applications on moving across country borders are still managed separately - on a one-person basis--just like before.
