Syrian rebels have taken military airport

The rebels have been killed, wounded and captured........ in all about 40 government soldiers in connection with the acquisition of Al-Hajjar base, according to an opposition group in exile .

- The remaining soldiers withdrew from the airport and left several fighters and large quantities of ammunition, said Rami Abdel Rahman, president of the group Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

It will be the first time the rebels take control of a fleet of military aircraft, including fighter jets of the type MiG.

- Not important\

An unnamed military source has confirmed that the rebels have taken control of the airport after the game that should have lasted for 48 hours. But he argues that the airport is small and not very important, and that the aircraft has been on the ground for a long time.

The opposition argues in turn that we are talking about dozens of fighters, most of a MiG 17, while the second is of a Sukhoi L39.

It was also announced Tuesday that the rebels have launched an offensive against the international airport in Aleppo, and the military airport Nayrab next.

Military sources reject these reports.

Besieged

The base Al-Hajjar is located 46 kilometers east of the city of Aleppo and has been besieged by rebel forces for several weeks. The rebels have also been in control of the road connecting Aleppo with the oil-producing eastern part of the country, the news service of an Islamist group called Sham.
