Obama Initiates secret U.S. cyber attacks

USA already has a policy of pre-emptive strikes if the country is threatened by something such as nuclear attack, but now it is clear that President Barack Obama gave the authority to conduct cyber variant of this principle.

If a country or a group is about to attack U.S. computers or networks, the U.S. could attack even if it has not declared war.

This emerged from a classified review of legislation.

New York Times quotes sealed sources involved in the review. According to the newspaper it is also possible in  principle   that U.S. agents can rummage through foreign computers and networks for signs of an attack on the U.S. is imminent.

Should it discover such evidence, then the order of attack can be given.

As nuclear

An American computer attack  is  considered so powerful and comprehensive that it is compared to nuclear attack.

The NY TIMES newspaper writes that an attack order therefore can only be given by the president himself.

International law gives a country the right to attack if it is threatened, and the U.S. has thus transferred this principle also apply to computer attacks.

Is already implemented

It is clear that the United States has already performed at least one network attack on another country. In an operation that went under the codename Olympic Games, there was a nuclear facility in Iran attacked including a worm named Stuxnet.

Stuxnet allegedly led to at least 1,000 centrifuges at a facility for enriching uranium to break down and be destroyed.

U.S. and Israel were responsible for this attack in the community, and similar attacks against Iran, according to New York Times will continue  this year.

China is the bad wolf

It has not got reliable information that the United States has carried out attacks against China despite the country being singled out as the worst in the area.

Chairman of Google, Eric Schmidt, says in a new book, "The Digital Age",  that China supports data attacks that have political and economic motives. Schmidt believes China is a threat to the internet.

Chinese officials have always denied that the country is behind these cyber attacks.
