Five people were killed and 2,000 evacuated when a fireworks factory went in the air in China on Monday.

19 persons were killed and 153 are injured after a Chinese fireworks factory went airborne in Yichun, a city in the north eastern Heilongjiang Province in China.

Five are still missed after the accident, according to news agency Xinhua.

The explosion sent shock waves that could recognize five kilometers away. 2,000 inhabitants in the area were evacuated from their homes.

The explosion occurred when employees were moving fireworks out of the factory, which was threatened by flood water due to heavy rain.
