Ir-ANIUM Enrichment ?: Iran Calls for Nuclear Disarmament

Iran asks for nuclear shutdown
We need to get to a point where no country has any nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, all weapons of mass destruction and nuclear weapons destroyed, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast.
Iran, like North Korea received a number of international sanctions against it because of its controversial nuclear program.

U.S. and other Western nations believe Iran is working to develop nuclear weapons, while the Iranian government has consistently denied everything and insisted that its nuclear program has only peaceful intentions.

- In order for such a world to exist, there must first be  countries to disarm, so that no country seeks these weapons. At the same time, all countries have the right to use nuclear programs for peaceful purposes, said Mehmanparast.

A plant for the production of nuclear fuel in Isfahan.
A plant for uranium enrichment in Natanz. The facility has 4,592 centrifuges in operation and a further 3,716 centrifuges are installed.
A plant for the enrichment of uranium in a mountain in Fordow outside the city of Qom.
A heavy water plant at Arak.

Mehmanparast also stated that Iran will transform an unspecified amount of enriched uranium for reactor fuel instead of producing highly enriched uranium.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) believes that the amount is too small to reduce concerns about its nuclear program.

Inspectors from the IAEA will visit Tehran on Wednesday, but the Iranian government has set several conditions for allowing access to visit all nuclear plants.

- The possibilities are good to reach agreement with the IAEA if Iran's rights are recognized, said Mehmanparast.

Iran says they have the right to develop a nuclear program for peaceful purposes,

Refusal of cooperation with North Korea

Iran was one of very few nations who congratulated North Korea when they fired a rocket in December, but the authorities in Tehran refused to have helped with the preparations.

South Korean media and Western diplomatic sources said that a group of Iranian missile experts was in North Korea to offer technical assistance prior to launch.

Telegrams from U.S. diplomats that were leaked in 2010 showed that the U.S. believes Iran has managed to obtain parts for a ballistic missile from North Korea.

As always the question with Iran is: are they on the level or are they just buying time ?
