Insurgents KIll 100: 500 Missing: South Sudan

Over 100 people were killed in South Sudan
News agency AFP reports that many people were killed when heavily weaponized rebels attacked a larger group   from Walgak tribe in the troubled Jonglei region Friday.


Cattle owners were on their way north, and were actually  escorted by military forces, when they were attacked, according Jongleis Governor Kuol Manyang.

500 missing

The attackers must have been many, and were armed with weapons such as heavy assault types. According to Manyang   103 people killed in the collision. 14 of those killed were soldiers, the rest tribal members. There will surely be women and children among the dead as well.

According to a spokesman for the governor shall further 500 people missing after being attacked. The attackers must have been a mix of civilians and armed insurgents.

Restless
After South Sudan declared independence from Sudan, was a tribal war in the eastern Jonglei region. According to the UN to 600 people have been killed in the conflict.

Figures from local sources indicate that it may be a matter of far more people have died, according to AFP upwards of several thousand people.
