Confirms new nuclear bomb in North Korea

A diplomat in the UN Security Council confirms nuclear test explosion. It also made North Korea's state news agency, KCNA.

"Atomic nuclear test was conducted as part of measures to protect our national security and sovereignty against the ruthless hostility shown by the United States, which has violated our right to a peaceful satellite launch," the report says.

The news agency also points out that the blast was carried out at a high level, and "in a safe and perfect way."

According to KCNA was blasting conducted underground with a miniaturized bomb, which according to AFP suggests that North Korea has come a step closer to being able to mount a nuclear warhead on a ballistic missile.

- The attempt to increase the ratio of bursting strength and weight, primarily by reducing the weight, so that the load can fit on a missile. It is only when they have a weapon, said NUPI researcher and North Korea expert Sverre Lodgaard .

Thus, both Japan and several U.S. bases in the Pacific, soon come within reach.

An unforgivable threat

UN Security Council gathered for an emergency meeting  Tuesday.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon condemns the nuclear test, calling it "a clear and serious violation of Security Council resolutions."

According to the South Korean news agency Yonhap, both the U.S. and China were told of  the explosion Monday.

South Korea's defense minister  also  been notified.

- It is confirmed that North Korea has conducted a nuclear test. It is a direct challenge to the international community and an unforgivable threat to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, President Lee Myung-the adviser of Chun Yung-woo.

U.S. President Barack Obama condemns the nuclear test as a "highly provocative act", which poses a threat to the United States and international peace and security.

Japan sends fighters

Japan also alerts sanctions after the country's top leaders gathered for a safety meeting as a result of nuclear test.

- I have given orders that we should consider all possible ways to address this issue. We will consider  own sanctions against North Korea, while we will cooperate with other countries, said Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe after the meeting.

According to Japan's Defense Itsunori Onodera to Japanese fighters immediately to measure radiation in the air.

Russia and Britain also condemned nuclear test.

Diplomats have previously said that the U.S., South Korea and the European members of the Security Council wants to endorse a resolution that would impose new North Korea sanctions .

To get such a resolution approved may take several weeks.

Biggest bomb so far

This is North Korea's third nuclear test, and it was performed in the same place as before, Punggye-ri facility in the county Kilju in the northeast.

Exploding it  was performed just before 12 pm local time on Tuesday, and the quake was measured at a magnitude of 4.9 by the U.S. Geological Survey.

This is the most powerful North Korean nuclear bomb so far. The last bomb in 2009 gave a result of 4.7, and the first in 2006, a result of 4.2. 

According to South Korean authorities.........  bomb's explosive power between 6 and 7 kilotons. Experts estimate that the bomb in 2006 was 0.8 kilotons and in 2009 was around 2.4 kilotons.

Americans bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945 was the comparison of about 13 kilotons. A Kiloton is a measure of explosive explosive force, and one kiloton equals 1,000 tons of TNT.
