Child raped, forced to marry the perpetrator and then took Her own life with rat poison

The new Islamist government in Morocco has been a rebellion against outrageous matrimonial law for rape and forced marriage of 15-year-old.

Last year the 15-year-old Amina Filali dragged into a shrubbery in his village in Morocco and brutally raped.

Then she was forced to marry the perpetrator. It all happened in a village syv mil south of Tangier.

In March this year, took the now 16-year-old Amina suicide by eating rat poison. It has sparked a huge protest wave in Morocco against the country's legislation.

Predators avoid punishment

Article 475 in Moroccan Penal Code exempts the perpetrators from punishment if they marry their victims. A marriage rescues the honor to the girl's family.

Without marriage between violent and sacrifice, risk offender by law up to ten years in prison, writes Al Jaazera .

Just eight years ago, it provoked international recognition as Morocco introduced a 18-year minimum age for marriage. But this law may be granted exemption from the court, which was done in Amina and thousands of other girls' cases.

Female Rights Organizations Presses

Since Amina killed on the morning of 10 March, she has become a national symbol, writes The Washington Post.

Now demanding women's movement, human rights activists and millions of others in Morocco changes in the law, including a memory page on Facebook for Amina.

Dilemma of Islamist government

The legislation is now objected to, based on Islamic tradition. It creates dilemmas for Morocco's new Islamist government, which was elected in November.

- We can not ignore what has happened, however, says government spokesman Mustapha El Khalfi to Al Jazeera.

- We need to increase the penalty for rape, and must also consider a discussion of the cultural and social aspects in order to create a comprehensive reform, he adds.

In countries which have changed regime by the Arab Spring, there is a tendency to hostility against anything that smacks of Western culture, and more Islamist-oriented law, writes The Washington Post.
