Seven Frenchmen abducted in Cameroon
Seven French tourists have been abducted in northern Cameroon on the border with Nigeria.
Seven French tourists were taken today by men on motorcycles near the Dadanga along the border with Nigeria, says a source at the French embassy told AFP.
Enlightenment came first from anonymous sources, but the embassy later confirmed that there had been an abduction. They would however not confirm the figures.
- All I can say is that there has been an abduction. I can not confirm any numbers, said a spokeswoman at the embassy told Reuters.
Later confirmed the French president Francois Hollande told reporters that seven French nationals have been abducted.
Hollande said that seven persons belonging to the same family were taken by a "terrorist group" based in Nigeria when he met reporters during a visit to Greece.
Children among the exiles
According to sources AFPs were tourists returning from Waza National Park when the abduction occurred.
News Agency receives information about that child will be among the exiles.
- Those abducted included three adults and four children, said a security source in the area for the French news agency.
An anonymous source in the Waza National Park also confirm that the exiles were guests there yesterday. According to the staff of the National Park people slept in the park's Visitor Center the night of the day before .
