Soldiers and Hostages Killed in Somalia Rescue Operation
Both soldiers and hostages killed in action to rescue agent in Somalia
The action took place in the town of Bulo Marere just south of Mogagishu.
French special forces attempted Friday night to reddde a hostage in southern Somalia. The campaign did not go as planned and two soldiers and hostages were killed.
The soldiers, according to witnesses AP spoke to have come in four combat helicopters to the city Bulo Marere slightly south of the capital Mogadishu.
The attempt to rescue the hostages in the city was however not according to plan.
The French defense ministry confirmed Saturday morning that one French soldier and one hostage died in the operation. Another soldier was allegedly captured.
17 militants from the group held hostage should also have been killed, according to French authorities.
