Strauss-Kahn and the maid reconciled
The former head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dominique Strauss-Kahn has reached a settlement with the maid he was accused of committing sexual assault against a hotel room in New York.
The criminal case against Strauss-Kahn were dismissed, but the maid, Nafissatou Diallo went to the civil lawsuit claiming damages against the former IMF chief. Strauss-Kahn went to countersued for slander.
Tonight, it's already agreed on a settlement.
- I thank you all and I thank God, said Diallo to the journalists outside the courthouse after the agreement was signed.
Two of Strauss-Kahn's lawyers said in an e-mail on behalf of the client that they were pleased to have found a solution.
Secret Settlement
The contents of the settlement are confidential. It has been speculated that Strauss-Kahn would pay maid 30 million, but his lawyers have previously rejected.
The incident happened in a hotel room in May 2011.
The woman claimed she was assaulted, while Strauss-Kahn claimed they had consensual sex.
The case received international attention. Strauss-Kahn had to resign as head of the IMF and lost his chance to become president of the French Socialist Party.

Great attention
Strauss-Kahn was arrested inside a plane at an airport in New York 14 May 2011.
In August last year, prosecutors dropped the criminal charge against him, and justified it with that Diallo was not reliable.
