New Year celebrations canceled in Venezuela
Chavez is hospitalized in Cuba, Venezuelan authorities announced Sunday that his condition has worsened.
- We have been informed about the new complications that have arisen as a result of a respiratory infection we all know about, said vice president Nicolás Maduro, who Chavez has appointed his successor.
Monday, the government decided to cancel the public New Year celebrations.
Not an illness job to remove him from power
Both supporters and opponents of President expressed that they hope he gets well again.
- Chavez has the power to overcome all the trials, wrote one ardent Chavez supporter on Twitter.
A supporter of the opposition made it clear that he hopes the president should die as a result of their cancer.
- I do not want Chavez dies. It will take not look good for us as a country if a disease need to do our job of removing him from power, Enrique Vasquez wrote on Twitter.
Chavez won the presidential election in Venezuela in October, but announced shortly afterwards that their cancer had flared up again. The president then went to Cuba for his fourth cancer surgery.
