Camera Catches Shark Tank Explosion at Shanghai Mall

It cracks aquarium in 33 tons of sharks and fish

A surveillance camera captured tank which burst at the mall "Shanghai Orient" on 19 December.

The video shows a wave that washes over passersby. Hai, turtles, small fish, glass and water spread out over the mall.

15 people were injured by glass fragments from the aquarium. Eight of the injured were customers, while the other seven worked at the mall. All were taken to hospital.

- There were several injuries due to broken glass that came flying. Some of the injuries are serious because the glass was so thick. We are investigating what caused the accident, said a spokesman from the police CCTV .

The aquarium was an attraction at the entrance of the mall. It weighed 33 tons, and the glass was 15 centimeters thick.
