British government warns British tourists against traveling to Egypt for fear that the terrorist network Al Qaeda planning actions against them.
The British foreign ministry has raised the threat level for terrorism in Egypt to the upper level, enter The Telegraph . This means that an attack is likely.
Security sources told the paper says that there is growing concern that Al Qaeda will try to attack Western tourists in the area.
Urges jihadists to kidnap
Five jihadists were last week arrested by Egyptian police near the border with the Gaza Strip.
This should have intensified fears that someone planning an attack against the resort area of Sharm el-Sheikh during the Christmas season, the newspaper said. The five were taken with firearms and grenades.
The increased threat level is also due to the fact that Western tourists and others generally have become more vulnerable to attacks.
