The U.S. Army has reached a grim milestone. The eleven years of war in Afghanistan has cost soldiers their lives in 2000, according to the New York Times. The striking element is that while it took nine years to catch up to the first 1,000 dead, the last in 1000 fell during the last 27 months. It shows an analysis of U.S. Department of Defense. The figures shows that the fighting has become more intensive after President Barack Obama decided to send an additional 33,000 U.S. troops to Afghanistan in 2010, according to the ministry. The analysis also shows that half of those killed fell either in Kandahar or Helmand province. |
