Air strikes may have hurt Syrian Research

Air attack Wednesday had anti-aircraft missiles and a military complex near the goal, according to a U.S. official.

It was suspected that the complex housing chemical weapons.

- Bombs hit missiles

A senior U.S. military official says the New York Times that the damage to the research probably came from the bombs that hit the trucks carrying antiaircraft missiles, and explosions when the missiles hit.


For over a decade, "The Syrian Center for Scientific Studies and Research" outside the capital Damascus has been the subject of U.S. and Israeli sanctions because of suspicions that it was produced chemical weapons there.

Sunday conceded Israel's Defense Minister Ehud Barak implied that Israel was behind the attack, saying that there was new evidence that Israel believes what they say.

At the security conference in Munich, he said that Israel is very little interest in seeing that sophisticated weapons systems to fall into the hands of Hezbollah in Lebanon after the regime of Bashar al-Assad falls.
