Peaceful markings
The demonstrations were in deep contrast to the protests which ended with violent riots in New Delhi last weekend. The Indian Government had prepared themselves for more violence, but instead they were met with peaceful protests.

Unacceptable
- We are aware that this is neither the first nor the last time that happens a gang rape in India, but it is clear that we are no longer going to tolerate sexual crimes, says lawyer Rana.

Even after dark marched both men and women through the streets with lighted candles in their hands to remember the woman who died Saturday morning at a hospital in Singapore. The incident has caused an outcry in the Indian population and triggered a fierce debate about the increasing violence against women in the populous country.

Eliminated with iron rods
The 23-year-old woman was walking home from the cinema with a male friend when the two were beaten on a bus by a group of six men. They were beaten with iron bars, and the woman was raped repeatedly, including with iron rods, before she and her husband were kicked off the bus. Six men are now charged with murder after the incident.
