Obama leads in Ohio and Florida

The poll was conducted by Marist for NBC News and the Wall Street Journal showing a lead for Obama at 6 percent. The president gets 51 percent, while Republican Romney gets 45 percent.


With its 18 electoral votes counted Ohio as the most important of all the tipping states - states where the outcome is still open.

In another poll conducted by the same agency leads Obama in the state of Florida, which has 29 electoral votes. Here the president enjoys 49 percent support to Romney's 47

The margin of error for the Ohio poll is 3.1 percentage points, while Florida poll is the 2.5 percentage points.


Indirect selection

Battle for the White House is about gathering up  as many electoral votes as possible, and each state has a certain number of electoral votes based on the number of inhabitants. That's why some states are more important to win than others.

The person who wins 270 of the 538 electoral votes wins what?... the election!
