Assad: "Syria Can and WILL Confront Aggression from Israel".wmv
Assad - Syria can and will confront threats and aggression
Sunday, there have been several new reports on the Israeli airstrike inside Syria.
The attack happened on Wednesday this week, and it has been somewhat unclear what Israeli aircraft actually bombed.
Syrian authorities stated that it was a military research complex that was bombed, while U.S. sources said it was a convoy carrying weapons to Hezbollah militia in Lebanon that goal.
Israel commented on Sunday for the first time airstrike. The attack was indirectly confirmed when Defense Minister Ehud Barak said it was "further evidence that we, Israel, means it when we say something," and that the country does not accept transported weapons into Lebanon.
The Syrian President Bashar al-Assad strikes back with an initiative by the Syrian state news agency SANA.
- Israel wants to destabilize Syria, says Assad during a meeting with an Iranian top diplomat in Damascus, according to the news agency.
Assad has not previously personally commented on the airstrike.
- Shows the true colors of Israel
From Damascus regime believes that Israel has a clear role in the conflicts in the area.
- The attack exposed Israel's true self, and the role played by cooperating with other countries and groups seeking to destabilize and weaken Syria, Assad said.
The statements, according to SANA having come after a meeting with Secretary General of the Iranian National Security Council Saeed Jalili. The regime-controlled news agency reported that he was in the capital Damascus to meet Assad.
Assad also made statements to create a signal that Syria will defend itself.
- Syria can and will confront threats and aggression directed against our country, said the president.
While taking a large number of meetings and various conversations dealing with Syria at the security conference in Munich, Germany
Israel's Barak said: - We mean what we say
The conference involved many heads of state, foreign ministers and defense ministers.
Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak in Munich.
He was initially not very willing to talk about information that said that the IDF had carried out an air strike inside Syrian soil when he met reporters this morning.
- I can not add anything to what you've read in the papers the past few days, said Barak.
But - when he spoke off-hand to reporters heard that he made an indirect admission in English.
- "I continue to say quite frankly that we have said, and this is proof that we mean what we say. We have said that we think it should not be permitted to carry advanced weapons systems into Lebanon" Barak was over-heard saying.
The statement is very close to what the American sources have said, namely that the airstrike - attack was directed against a weapons convoy which was on its way to Lebanon. The aircraft should have bombed weapons convoy to prevent Hezbollah from getting new weapons.
It is also consistent with repeated warnings from both Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others, that the guns from the conflict in Syria must not come at the hands of such as Hezbollah in Lebanon.
